SMALL AMUSEMENTS
I was driving behind a red truck Wednesday when I noticed someone had written in the dirt on the tailgate, "I wish my wife was this dirty".

SINGLE CARD JAMS vs ROUND ROBINS
Of course, I love both and started out jammin' on single card jams in 2001. But does anyone still do those? That's where 3 to 4 artists work on one card and the starting artist sends quality copies to all the participants upon receiving the completed card. With round robins three artists work on three cards and all participants end up with an original rather than a copy. That's great, but I still love working on both. I've gotten quite a few single card jams sent back to me with the question "Where are the other two cards?" or the comment that they only do the three card jams.
I want it all. Comment here if you want it all too, and if you are still into single card jams, I will send you a starter for you to work on and send to a third artist. I have plenty started already so there is no waiting. If you prefer only round robins, I understand and will be glad to only send you the 3 card jams.

BROKEN ANKLE SUCKs

I was really looking forward to my vacation. Friday, August 27 was my last workday and because of the Labor Day holiday on September 6, I wasn't due back to work until September 7. I decided to celebrate on Saturday morning August 28 by getting donuts. I walked out of the shop with a dozen assorted and four chocolate milks. Not realizing that there was a step down from the sidewalk to the parking lot, I stepped off into mid-air and landed on top of the donuts and chocolate milk. Luckily, we salvaged the donuts and 3 of the four milks. Unluckily my right ankle had a knot as big as a grade A extra large hen egg.
As I lay there moaning and crying like a tiny baby, one man glanced down at me and went on his merry way and drove off with his donuts. A nice lady who had just arrived for her appointment at the nail salon next to the donut shop and one of the employees at the nail salon and an unknown man helped me up. I couldn't put any weight on my right foot. The three of them helped me to my car and I was able to drive the short distance across the street to my home. When I got there, I realized there was no way I was going to make it up the stairs to my apartment. Just then my downstairs neighbor, a young boy, came out to walk his dog. I asked him to go upstairs and get my daughter, Katy who came down with my granddaughter, Zephyr and they took me to the ER where I got a temporary splint pending a visit with an orthopedic surgeon.
Well, my ankle was broken on both sizes of my leg and I had to go see a surgeon on Monday. We had to wait for all the swelling to go down and so I ended up having surgery on Thursday to put pins and a plate in there. I spent that night in the hospital, went home on Friday and spent the next week in bed on pain pills, only getting up to go to the bathroom with the help of a walker and my oldest daughter, Melissa.
I'm getting too tired to write more now but will continue later.

100 JAMS - AN ART PROJECT TO SEE HOW MANY COME BACK TO ME

Recently, I started 100 1-card jams and asked people to add their art and contact info to the starter and send to another artist. The 4th artist is to send the completed card back to me and I make quality copies for all participants. I've sent out a ton of jams and round robins since 2002 and many have returned and many have not. I started this project on March 8, 2010.
They are pre-numbered to better track each jam to see exactly which ones come back and when. As of April 10th, 59 have been released into the wild.
If anyone out there is interested in receiving one of the 41 left and will commit to their best artwork , safe handling and re-releasing of the cards, email me (atcjams@att.net) with your contact info and I'll mail one out to you.
These are the first 4 to return.

I LOVE BIRDS
BIRDS OF TEXAS - - AMERICAN ROBINI recently entered a Birds atc swap at ART 42. This is one of the extras I drew and posted for trade on ATCsforALL. I used Prismacolor pencils. I love drawing birds and will post more as I complete them.
A few nights ago I was trying to get to sleep but it was just too hot so I opened my window. It was nice outside. In the morning I awoke to bird song and lay there listening and enjoying until my alarm went off and the work day started.
Since then, it's been too chilly to open the window at night.

SHIRLEY JACKSON 9/11/94 - 8/26/09

I came across this picture of Shirley from January 1995 when she was 5 months old. Look how tiny she was! She loved to sit in her rocking chair on top of my bureau and keep me company when I would get ready for work each morning. She was such a great kitty and an awesome companion. The best cat ever!Shirley Jackson, the best cat ever. We were best friends since November 1994. Between April 2009 and August 2009 she lost a lot of weight. She had cancer and rather than let her suffer another day, I had the vet put her to sleep on August 26th, 2009. I miss her so much.

I HATE PAYING FOR ADS, SPAM, AND OTHER CRAP
A lot of free websites are like drugs. They get you hooked on all the cool free stuff you can do and then they say now that you are addicted, it's really gonna cost ya. So I will be leaving the following website: Flickr I got a free pro account with my att/yahoo dsl account and after several years of some amazing Flickr stuff, hey, now it's not free anymore.
Here's the notice I got:
FlickrMail
From: Flickr HQ
Subject: [Flickr] Your Flickr Pro Account Is About to Expire

The Flickreenos
Almost everything I get on my att/yahoo email is spam, even though I have a spam filter. It probably won't work until I start paying for it. Oh, wait, I do pay for it. Also my cool looking att/yahoo homepage, which I also pay for, is just chock full of ads that interest me not one whit.
Well, can't do much about it except complain, so I'll be complaining quite a bit till they start charging me for that too.

RECENT SWAPS ON ATCards.com
I love the swaps at ATCards.com because the variety of themes help me to stretch my imagination and my artistic ability. I'm finding that I draw more freehand projects, where I was doing mostly collage (which I still love and still do quite a bit of).

HOLY COW
I can't believe I haven't posted here for so long. It's been nearly a year. I'm working on an altered book and when I finish it I will post pics of it here. I've added a section to this blog with links to other blogs that I enjoy reading and will add to this from time to time. I just submited some ATCs to a swap called "Life is Friendlier with Two". The cards I made are drawn with colored pencils and I am quite satisfied with them.
